Scoring system


There are two types of scoring system in the Badminton. Which are scoring system in single game and double game. These two game have both different scoring system. The scoring system in Badminton is simple actually rather than Tennis or Ping Pong. But it can be quite confusing when it is comes to double scoring system. 

1. Odd number started at the left side. For example 1,3,5,7....13

1.  Even number started at the right side. 0,2,4,6,8....14

Let's us start with single first !

When we start the game, then win the first rally, we will get the point. It is starting from zero and when a person first reach the 21 points, he or she win the game. 

In the standard league or tournament, the Badminton will have 3 games. We will need to win the first two games in order to win the match. A match could last either two or three games.  If we win a rally, we will get the next serve. So if our opponent was serving in the last rally, the serve passes to us. But if we were serving, we shall continue serving. In order to win the game, we need to score two point more than our opponent. For example 20-18. If the score is similar with the opponent which is 20-20, before the last score, we end up to score two more point to win. 

We have two side of the court, left and right. So many of us confuse at which side to serve? The answer is very simple. 

The receiver position is not determine by the score but the server's score. The receiver will stand in the box opposite the server.

Double scoring system !

The odd and even number still play an important role in the double scoring system. First, the double players need to decide who's going to be the server and the receiver. The server will serve the shuttle to the opposite opponent, and be in the right side as the score is 0-0. Then, if the server get the first point, which ended up to 1-0, the server need to change his or her stand to the left side. The receiver do not have to change their placed. After the game have started, or when there are changes of server, it will depend on the scores of each double.  The server will serve on the right side if their score is an even number and left side if the scores is an odd number.
